So many skills... so few skill slots :)
I've got a question for you more experienced "Pet using" Rangers out there...
This is strictly a PvE question ONLY. I LOVE the idea of the pet. I LOVE my little Mel. Stalker... but GEEZ LOUISE there are so many cool skills/spells that I want to take with my Ranger from either Monk, Elementalist, or Warrior, (haven't settled on a secondary yet, LOL), not to mention the Ranger primary, that I'm having trouble deciding what to dump. If I only take Charm Animal with no means of rezzing or healing my pet, and none of the special pet buffs/attacks/etc... is there any point to using him? I mean... I guess he's better than nothing and I can live with the Charm Animal eating up a slot... but if he's pretty pointless if I'm not going to support him then maybe I should dump Charm Animal all together since that IS one extra slot I can use for something else. If it is still worth keeping him... is it then worth putting any points into Beast Mastery? If so... how many might you suggest? Thanks for your insight to this. Take care, Daruma Sureshot, Ranger/?? Balthas Deathbane, Monk/Necro Rinwen Darkblade, Warrior/?? |

The pet line I believe is great for PvE. You probably won't get many who have tried it though because it's not nearly as good for PvP. I'd go ahead and sink the points into it and try it out. Sounds like you will probably enjoy it. You can always take the points out later.

The pet line is good for low level characters, also in PvP. When you get to yaks bend it gets increasingly useless.
